Key Stage 3
We provide a broad and balanced curriculum which incorporates distinct subject areas. At present Key Stage 3 pupils have lessons in English, Drama, ICT, Maths, Science, RE, History, Geography, French, Irish, Technology & Design, Art & Design, Music, and PE. Learning for Life and Work (LLW) is a statutory requirement of the Revised Curriculum and has four contributory strands - Education for Employability, Home Economics, Local and Global Citizenship and Personal Development. We have introduced LLW to the Year 8 Curriculum with specific timetabled lessons for each of the contributory strands.
St.Brigid's has participated in CCEA's Citizenship and Employability pilot schemes. Staff look forward to the challenge of providing our students with an education geared towards 21st century living. We continue to be to the forefront in shaping and implementing educational improvement.
All students work through a school produced Personal Development Programme which is taught by Form Teachers. This course covers such topics as Health Education, Study Skills, Relationship Education, Citizenship and Communication Skills.
